How to Solve Print Spooler Problem

Print spooler is a service that commands the printer to print. It manages all the printer commands that you send to the printer. The Canon CLI271 printer model may display Print spooler problems in different ways but all means the same. This may be displayed as:

  • Print spooler isn’t working or won’t start.
  • Print spooler service can’t start.
  • Local print spooler is not running. Please restart the spooler.

Regardless of how the problem is displayed the cause is the same and all can be solved in either way. Viruses and Trojans are the main cause of print spooler is not working issues. These two targets to corrupt the print spooler service which affects majority of the printer users.  This article gives 3 different solutions to fix the problem on most of the printer models including your Canon CLI271 printer.

Restart the print spooler service.

Step 1: Press the windows logo key and R simultaneously. The run box will open.

Step 2: On the run box, type services.msc and press enter. The service window will open.

Step 3: On the service window click on the print spooler and then click on restart.

Step 4: You can then try printing to see if the problem has been fixed.

  • Checking the print spooler setting

Unless the print spooler service is set to automatic, it cannot be turned on when the windows start. For the printer to start, you must turn it on manually. To do this:

Step 1: Press the windows logo key and R simultaneously. The run box will open.

Step 2: On the run box, type services.msc and press enter. The service window will open.

Step 3: Right click on the print spooler and then to properties.

Step 4: On the startup type, set to automatic and then click on apply.

Step 5: Check if the printer works.

  • Check the print spooler recovery options.

The printer will not automatically restart if the spooler recovery is not correctly set. To change the recovery options:

Step 1: Press the windows logo key and R simultaneously. The run box will open.

Step 2: On the run box, type services.msc and press enter. The service window will open.

Step 3: Right click on the print spooler and then to properties.

Step 4: Click on recovery.

Step 5: Make sure all the 3 failure fields are set to “Restart the Service”.

Step 6: Click on Apply and then Ok.

Step 7: Check if the problem has been fixed.
